IDSA 1 and IDSA 2 are two different approaches to a large public university project, which, at the client's request, is to be built in the middle of the “natural climate center” of the city of Linz. While in IDSA 1 the entire project is to be built directly into the earth, in IDSA 2 the entire project is lifted from the earth's surface and positioned directly above the highway route next to the site.
The intention and result are very similar in both cases: to create a surface on the site that improves the microclimate, reduces radiation, allows vegetation to grow and can build up cold air and keep it flowing.
